Executive Action on Immigration:

What You Need to Know — Catholic Charities USA

On Thursday, November 20, President Obama announced that he would be taking executive action on immigration to defer deportation for certain undocumented immigrants and their families.  It is estimated that this order could provide temporary relief to 5 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States.  Details regarding the application process will be made available at the beginning of 2015 and USCIS will begin accepting applications shortly after.

Advocates and immigration legal organizations both in DC and across the country have begun preparing to support the millions who will  be applying for deferred action.  The most important message to share in communities across the country is to avoid “notario” fraud.  Reports have already begun surfacing that individuals have paid large sums of money to so-called “notarios”, who promise to file documents on their behalf, but are not authorized to do so.
